Academic Standard

The CTPA (The Cosmetic, Toiletry and Perfumery Association) supports the aims of the course.  As a guideline, the Diploma is equivalent to a Certificate in Higher Education and the first year of an undergraduate degree course.

The SCS Distance Learning Course is an Associate Member of FAB (the Federation of Awarding Bodies) and is recognised by the Royal Society of Chemistry for Continuing Professional Development.

While studying the course you can become a member of the Society of Cosmetic Scientists and take part in scientific and educational events organised by the Society. If you do not hold a science degree you may become an Associate or a Student Member. When you pass your SCS Diploma you are given a year's free membership to the Society.

Entry Requirements

It is expected that you will have two science A-Levels, one of which must be in chemistry, or equivalent. We will consider applicants without these qualifications if they have work experience of making cosmetics and toiletries and are currently within the industry. Overseas students who do not have English as a first language should have passed the IELTS test (Academic Level) with an overall mark of 6.5, or have an equivalent qualification.

If you have non-UK qualifications or if you are uncertain that you meet the entry requirements please contact the Education Administrator for further assistance.
